About this artwork
This piece depicts the reason I started painting my figures. My story telling apparatus. The moments and memories that I didn’t feel able to share verbally lead me to start painting them; they became my narrator. As a child I was very influenced by Norwegian Bronze Age Carvings often visiting their original sites back home in Norway. Prior to painting my elongated figures, I was a portrait and often landscape painter but I was searching for a clearer… way to tell a story, As a young artist I would often doodle this figure in my school books and this memory solidified my dancers remergence. My shadow dancers share my story and help me to clarify and share everyday moments as they enter my life. They share in my history as an artist and will be part of my future as an artist.
