About this artwork
An old background reborn into something new. I made this piece out of a need to create to get some stress off my chest and process how stress is living in me through a particularly stressful period. How stress can also come with good moments and how the body and mind react to both positive and negative stress. The background comes from a period when I was experimenting with acrylic pouring but the piece never evolved into a finished piece until now.…

Rika Maja Duevel is a painter/mixed media artist from Stavanger, Norway living in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Her artwork manifests from her daily experiences, capturing the moment through an introverted lens. A focus on her own female experience and the journey and deeper research into the concept of the Introverted Artist, the unseen soul. An award-winning artist and graduate of Wheaton College, SACI, and Lesley University she has exhibited in Amsterdam, Rome, Venice, Bologna, Naples, Florence, Milan, Barcelona, Granada, Paris, Seoul , Tokyo, and Buenos Aires. An Artist in Residence in Barcelona, Granada, Spain, Ardèche, France, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Guest Artist Lecturer at the University of Amsterdam’s Business School (UVA), published in the “50 Artists to Watch 2023” and “50 Artists to Discover 2025” by the Florence Contemporary Gallery, and named one of the “Top 30 Influential Women Entrepreneurs to Watch Out For in 2025” by NY Weekly Magazine.
