About this artwork
On this flat black that recalls a school board, I used oil pastel to find the texture of chalk. The strength of this medium is that it is not necessary to reload the color as on a brush, which allows a permanent flow and speed of execution. We find on this work my research of forms always in relation to a face, from the front or from the side that appears to your eyes a little like when you look at the clouds. The title is a double allusion, the first to the school class itself and to these memories of the first learnings, the second as a mantra to always learn and develop my practice towards new horizons.
The fear of making a mistake can freeze us and prevent us from realizing our wishes. In this painting and in this series in general, it is impossible to erase what has been marked with pastel.
