About this artwork
Rina loves the sea, sand and sunshine of South Africa's beaches. Living in George, in the Western Cape, she feels so blessed to be able to go for a swim in the periwinkle coloured sea or a walk along the beautiful beaches of Victoria Bay and Wilderness.
The poem by Rain was her inspiration for this artwork.
"Periwinkle floods the skyline
and foam clouds lapse
upon horizon’s shore.
If the ocean is so wonderful,
painted upon earth’s ceiling,
I can… imagine it must feel more so
with toes in damp sand
blue sky droplets, turned to salty water
washing upon eaths granulated floor
of fallen sunshine."
