Paris, Pont Marie, mid-afternoon. The buildings in the background are on the Quai de Bourbon. I'm looking directly at the sun. The lamppost is illuminated only by the sun; it seems to be its own source of light, like a daytime lamp. The shutter speed is set so that when blonde women cross the frame, their hair creates golden waves. These waves contrast, in their movement and horizontality, with the window display and the height of the lamppost. Their…
color, however, finds an echo, albeit a faint one, in the "blond" stone of the building on the right.
