About this artwork
In Lowestoft, The Triangle is round the corner from The Mayfly community cafe and gallery, where I spend most of my time working and socialising.
We see The Triangle as an extension of The Mayfly after hours. That's because, on any given day, you'll see regulars from The Mayfly in there.
When I was going out in Lowestoft in my teens, The Triangle was one of the first pubs I went to. I liked it because it was a haven for artists, bikers, mods and… punks - in short, all the people leading an alternative lifestyle in the town. All these years later it hasn't changed, and its role as a safe space for the bohemian and borderline is, if anything, even more important.
