About this artwork
Miglianico is a small town in the instep of Italy and at the time that the artist was there the weather was very hot and the land extremely dry and burnt up. He wanted to capture something of this feeling of heat with the intense black of the opening, the burnt up scrubby plants in the foreground and the view of the facade of the building in full sun light.
