About this artwork
In this contemporary study, I explore the vibrant profile of a Hornbill using a meticulous combination of colored pencils and ink. The organic, warm tones of the bird’s beak and eye are sharply contrasted by a rigid overlay of vertical black stripes.
Consistent with my "Linear Vibrations" series, these stripes function as a conceptual cage, trapping the subject within its own existence. This visual barrier forces the viewer to confront the bird’s… intense gaze through a prism of confinement, highlighting the tension between the freedom of nature and the abstract structures that define and limit our reality. The interaction between the tactile texture of the pencils and the cold precision of the ink lines serves to deepen the psychological weight of this 'captured' moment.
Born in 1976 and trained at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, I work from my studio in Tel Aviv, where I bridge the gap between classical craftsmanship and digital innovation. My practice is a constant dialogue between traditional mediums-oil painting, charcoal, and graphite-and the cutting-edge worlds of digital motion and AI.
Through my signature 24/7 Painting Machine concept, I marry the physical intensity of intricate cross-hatching with relentless digital evolution. My work captures icons suspended between anxiety, desire, and estrangement, confronting viewers with raw, soulful gazes that reflect the fractured human condition in our hyper-technologized era.
