About this artwork
For years I was fascinated by Rothko's use of color, had one or two prints of his paintings on my studio walls, even bought a calendar... But then at some point I'd had enough. I demystified him for myself with my own painting, a Little Rothko.
A lot of raised texture, beautiful iridescent colors in the depth (no photo can show this) - especially in changing (day)light - black shadow gap frame and when the picture is illuminated, it glows and sparkles… through the many small raised areas.
The frame is not included in the price. However, I'm happy to give it to nice people as a gift, without any guarantee.

Rolf Lorenz works primarily with acrylic paints on canvas and brings a rich background in painting, film, and photography. His technique is experimental, blending a wide variety of materials and uniting classical painting with narrative elements. His style addresses political and social themes, which he powerfully commentates on and critically interprets. His works possess great emotional power: His art denounces injustices, shakes people up, and challenges the viewer to observe and reflect.
