About this artwork
The rhinoceros is a highly endangered species; some subspecies (e.g., the northern white rhinoceros/“Sudan”) are already extinct. Its horn is traded as an aphrodisiac in Asia; mostly obtained through poaching, it generates enormous profits.
The giants are gentle if you leave them alone.
The image has a mystical texture, similar to rough plaster, achieved through the use of marble dust, some of which was vacuumed up after application. The color… rendering shifts depending on the angle of the light due to the varying thickness of the application.
Shadow gap frame in light wood. The frame is not included in the price. However, I'm happy to give it away as a gift to nice people, though without guarantee.

Rolf Lorenz works primarily with acrylic paints on canvas and brings a rich background in painting, film, and photography. His technique is experimental, blending a wide variety of materials and uniting classical painting with narrative elements. His style addresses political and social themes, which he powerfully commentates on and critically interprets. His works possess great emotional power: His art denounces injustices, shakes people up, and challenges the viewer to observe and reflect.
