About this artwork
This is a poor man's tribute to Mark Rothko, a profoundly honest and truthful painter and a deep thinker. It consists of three panels of acrylic washes painted on heavy watercolor paper. The paper panels are mounted on black-painted Masonite which is, in turn, fastened by screws to a frame made of warped wood, which like the Masonite, was reclaimed from a construction site that I worked on. from common and simple elements an eloquent visual object that evokes a feeling of peace and stimulates thoughtful reflection. The warped wooden frame must be fastened to a wall with screws. Imperfection is an important aspect of art.
