« I tend to want to go beyond a standardized language that prevents us from perceiving a certain presence, the essence of the subject. An image only has meaning through the context in which it is found. »
Roxane Stroobant is a prizewinning artist from France whose works have been featured in exhibitions nationally. A graduate from art college in Belgium, she combines photography, painting, and collage. Roxane starts with an image and adds various elements to create vivid textures and surprising elements within the composition. Her work captures the vibrancy of the urban landscape and also women’s themes.
