About this artwork
In making a collage, you build up layers of imagery. In a Decollage, you remove layers of imagery. I was inspired to create this particular piece by comic books and Pop art. Due to the transparency of the material on top, it gives the viewer an illusion of layers of imagery underneath, just like in Decollage technique. This piece is inspired by the iconic representation of explosions in comic books. Creating a sense of movement with lines going on…
multiple directions, a little like a cubist painting as well. The bottom layer is printed on 2mm sintra board. Is flexible and incredibly sturdy.
