In this monochrome photograph, I sought to capture the raw essence and tranquil solitude of the Everglades. The lone pine, standing resilient against the sweeping clouds and serene water body, reflects a narrative of persistence and calm amidst nature's flux. This piece invites the viewer to pause, breathe, and find peace in simplicity, enhancing any living space with its contemplative energy.
This image was captured on old school analog film with… a large format 4 x 5"" (film size) homemade pinhole camera. (it looks like a bird house) A pinhole Camera has no lens and no electronics or view finder.
The image is digitally printed on high quality archival luster paper with archival pigment ink. Prints are made to order and shipped rolled up in a generally oversized tube
I love working with one of my vintage cameras. My cameras range in age from 85 to 45 years old and in film formats from 2 1/4 × 2 1/4 inch to 8 × 10 inch. I also love working with alternative processes, such as pinhole photography. Somebody said once about one of my pinhole Everglades images that the image Really conveys that Everglades look! That was one of the nicest comments I have ever received. Is that not what photographers are going for? That moment that the subject, the viewer, and the photographer all become one?
Over the years, I had several solo and shared shows in The Netherlands and West Palm Beach, FL. Currently, I have work in a permanent gallery inside the Gaylord Hotels and Resorts in Orlando. FL., other nationwide ventures, and private collectors. I am an active board member of the Homestead Center of the Arts.
