About this artwork

In this small painting of a little bird, I wanted to capture a sense of sensitivity and delicate, nuanced color. While working on the piece, I had not yet seen this bird in the wild, but encountering it later left a strong impression on me. It was fascinating to observe its bravery in the search for food and the quiet confidence with which it moved in its natural environment. Guided by intuition, I feel these qualities found their way into the painting.…

My intention was to create an accurate yet gentle portrait of the bird, supported by a warm, simple background that subtly interacts with the subject and brings it into the foreground. The outer edges of the work are also painted with oil, and this is the first piece I have framed in this way using oil paint. I particularly enjoy working on small-scale works like this, where subtle details, intimacy, and atmosphere can come to the forefront.
