About this artwork
Two figures, complicit musicians, occupy the center of the canvas. Their stylized bodies, in bright, contrasting colors, seem to vibrate with the broken lines that surround them. The instruments, bordering on abstraction, extend their gestures, and the whole breathes a common, almost palpable rhythm. The painting, with its chromatic dynamism, evokes less a frozen scene than a musical pulse.
In this work, I sought to convey the power of artistic… dialogue: two beings united by the same creative energy. The "duettists" become a metaphor for exchange, listening, and harmony, even beyond music. It is a question of painting not the concert itself, but the invisible harmony that circulates between the performers.
Serge Dumez, a painter and draftsman, began his artistic career with pencil drawing and pastel. His technique fuses the elegance of drawing and the vivacity of pastel, manifesting a predilection for deconstructed representations through cubism. By exploring human relationships in his works, Dumez conveys deep feelings and complex ideas.
