About this artwork
The painting depicts an urban square bathed in twilight, tinged with greens and browns. The atmosphere seems suspended, almost unreal, as if the city itself were dissolving into a twilight mist. The figures, blending into the shadows, contribute to this feeling of diffuse nostalgia. The space, both familiar and distant, evokes a bygone era.
I wanted to convey through this landscape the melancholy of evenings drawing to a close. This "spleen" is… not merely that of an individual, but that of a place laden with memory, a witness to passages and silences. In painting this scene, I sought to give form to this bittersweet feeling that settles in as the day wanes, a blend of fragile beauty and profound sadness.
