About this artwork
I painted Wisdom of the Underworld from a place I visit in shamanic journeying. It is a timeless inner landscape, a chamber of deep knowing that exists beneath ordinary reality. This is where insight arrives as dream, as vision.
The ouroboros, the serpent biting its own tail, encircles the scene as a symbol of eternity, renewal, and the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth. It marks this space as protected and whole, a place outside linear… time where beginnings and endings dissolve into one another.
At the centre stands a small tree root dwelling, a threshold between worlds. Crystals rise from within it as keepers of memory and truth, while sacred plants grow nearby as allies and teachers. This painting honours the underworld not as a place of darkness, but as a womb of wisdom, transformation, and ancient intelligence. It is a map of an inner realm where healing, guidance, and remembrance unfold.
