About this artwork
The concept of the artwork is freedom — the feeling of freedom when you are able to let go. I wanted a bright, fresh, uplifting look, along with movement. Movement symbolizes growth to me.
The title came from listening to Mozart. Allegro aperto in music can be described as bright, clear, broad, or radiant sound, often associated with joy and cheerfulness. IRL, I have been able to expand my range of vision and activities through openness and a release… from that which does not, or no longer serves my best experience.

I have lived in many places in the world. Travel to Africa, Jamaica, and Europe formed the foundation of early artistic and cultural influences in my artwork. Exposure to a broad range of art at a young age was a major inspiration for the direction of my life and career. Later, I attended an arts high school in Dallas, TX and began studying painting, drawing and crafts. I moved to San Francisco at age 17 where I studied painting and photography at the San Francisco Art Institute and obtained my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
I consider myself a globally influenced artist and express myself through painting and photography.
I am inspired by nature and want to create something beautiful in my work. I enjoy taking the initial visual impression a bit further using my own style and techniques. Almost all of my work is landscape painting and photography, with an emphasis on lighting which I think is essential and transformative.
