About this artwork
Inspired by the realistic (cinematic, photographic) expressions of Luc Tuymans and Gerhard Richter, this work explores documentary-style painting, using a structural (architectural) perspective and monochrome colors to depict the gloomy and inorganic spaces of the city.
In this painting, I captured the quiet intensity of a mundane parking garage, transforming it into a scene full of depth and perspective. Using acrylics, I aimed to evoke the subtle… tension between solitude and order, inviting viewers to feel the stillness amid the everyday hustle. This piece brings a grounded, contemplative energy to any space, reminding you to find beauty in life's often overlooked moments.
大村正一 Shoichi Omura Among artists, the artist who had the greatest influence on him was the sculptor Alberto Giacometti. He was inspired by his approach as an artist, which was to set himself the mission of depicting reality as it is, and to create through constant pursuit and exploration. He primarily works with acrylic and oil paints, as well as Japanese mineral pigments, and his background lies in his Japanese origins. He intricately blends his personal imaginations with photography, creating multi-layered, hybrid compositions on canvas through his only method. Omura endeavors to ‘restore the power of painting’, presenting a sense of modern reality in his pieces, with a distinct focus on his interest .
