About this artwork
This photograph captures Venice in its flowing continuity — a city shaped by water, movement, and centuries of accumulated presence. Gondolas, public boats, and reflections drift through the Grand Canal beneath soft afternoon light, while the facades along the waterfront unfold like a layered visual memory.
Rather than isolating a monument or dramatic moment, I was interested in the quiet rhythm of the scene itself: the coexistence of daily life,… tourism, history, and atmosphere. The movement of the boats creates a gentle visual cadence against the stillness of architecture and the muted palette of stone, plaster, and water.
My approach remains restrained and observational, seeking subtle tonal balance and authenticity rather than spectacle. Printed by the artist on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Ultra Smooth paper to preserve delicate textures, depth, and atmospheric nuance.
