About this artwork
This photograph captures the intimate coexistence of architecture and everyday life within the narrow canals of Venice. Weathered facades, reflections, moored boats, hanging laundry, and softened light create a layered visual rhythm where historical grandeur and ordinary human presence naturally intertwine.
I was drawn to the contrast between the elegant curved palace facade in the distance and the fragile traces of daily habitation in the foreground… — textiles drying above the canal, worn brick surfaces, improvised details, and shifting reflections carried by the water. Venice reveals itself here not as a static monument, but as a continuously inhabited and evolving environment.
The narrow passage compresses space, guiding the eye through textures, colors, and architectural rhythms toward the light beyond. My approach remains observational and understated, preserving atmosphere and authenticity while refining tonal balance and detail.
