About this artwork
This photograph explores one of the quieter inner passages of Venice, where water, brick, reflection, and time merge into a restrained and intimate atmosphere. The narrow canal moves silently between weathered facades marked by erosion, humidity, and countless traces of habitation accumulated over centuries.
I was drawn to the rich textures of brick and stone, the muted palette of softened reds and greens, and the still reflections dissolving architecture… into the water below. Removed from the more familiar monumental views, the city reveals itself here through closeness, detail, and subtle tonal relationships.
Rather than emphasizing spectacle, my approach remains observational and understated, attentive to atmosphere and the quiet coexistence between architecture, water, and lived space. Venice becomes less a destination and more a continuous surface of memory, transformation, and presence.
