About this artwork
The work is made on fine Fabriano 300 gsm cotton paper. The size shown is the actual size of the image. I kept the internal drawing to ensure that the image is not lost in the event of a frame.
In this work, I immersed myself in the search for the essential sign, the dialogue between light and matter. I chose to work in monochrome because I wanted to strip away the color, letting the texture, the density of the sign, and the variations of black,… gray, and white speak for themselves.
The shapes can recall stones, eroded surfaces, or the chiaroscuro of streets and hidden corners. I'm interested in that ambiguous boundary between the natural and the urban, between the concrete and the abstract, where the eye doesn't immediately recognize but senses a presence, a rhythm, a memory.
It is a work on silence and the weight of shadows, on the way in which light not only illuminates, but reveals the depths of what remains hidden.
Silvana Di Vora, a self-taught artist, uses watercolor, acrylic on canvas, and scrap materials to create works brimming with light and movement. She experiments with figurative and abstract art, using rapid brushstrokes and intense monochromes, highlighting the three-dimensionality and luminosity of unexpected details. Her works, often melancholic and dynamic, convey that even from darkness, the most intense light and vibrant color can emerge, instilling vitality and hope in the viewer.
