About this artwork
"The work is slightly inside the edge of the 300 gsm Fabriano cotton sheet to allow for the image not to be lost if framed."
This work of mine was born from the need to give form to an internal contrast. I applied black as a deep, dense base, almost as if to represent the silence or shadow from which everything comes to life. From that darkness, the strokes of red emerge forcefully, like explosions of energy, passion, anger, and rebirth. The white,… though present in a fragmented way, becomes light and breathing: it is the balance that finds space between the intensity of the red and the depth of the black. In this dialogue of colors, I see the tension between darkness and vitality, between destruction and revelation. It is an image that speaks of movement, conflict, and, at the same time, a desire for peace.
Silvana Di Vora, a self-taught artist, uses watercolor, acrylic on canvas, and scrap materials to create works brimming with light and movement. She experiments with figurative and abstract art, using rapid brushstrokes and intense monochromes, highlighting the three-dimensionality and luminosity of unexpected details. Her works, often melancholic and dynamic, convey that even from darkness, the most intense light and vibrant color can emerge, instilling vitality and hope in the viewer.
