About this artwork
I composed this work with acrylic paint on canvas. A dense network of black marks, rapid strokes, scratches, and overlapping layers creates an unstable map: lines that run like fragments of thought. Spots of blue, touches of yellow, and slivers of red act as chromatic clues, stopping points like missing letters in a puzzle begging to be solved. The white spaces are not empty but rhythmic pauses, while the texture of the brushstrokes and the contrast… between line and surface create depth and tension.
The work doesn't offer a single interpretation: it's an active invitation to gaze, to piece together a narrative made of movement, memory, and questions. Life is a puzzle; it's up to us to choose what we love.
Silvana Di Vora, a self-taught artist, uses watercolor, acrylic on canvas, and scrap materials to create works brimming with light and movement. She experiments with figurative and abstract art, using rapid brushstrokes and intense monochromes, highlighting the three-dimensionality and luminosity of unexpected details. Her works, often melancholic and dynamic, convey that even from darkness, the most intense light and vibrant color can emerge, instilling vitality and hope in the viewer.
