About this artwork
WORK MADE ON HIGH QUALITY 300GR/M2 COTTON PAPER.
In this work, I depict a bare forest, stripped down to the bare bones of things. The trees emerge as vertical presences, bright against a deep, dark background, and the branches intertwine above like thoughts seeking and brushing against each other.
The light traverses the scene in an irregular pattern: it descends from above, filters through the tree trunks, and dissolves into a soft mist that envelops… everything. It's not a clear light, but a suspended one, like a breath that opens the space and silences it.
I paint the contrast between solids and voids, between what remains visible and what is lost in the shadows. This forest is not a place to be traversed, but to be listened to: an interior place, where light not only illuminates, but reveals.
Silvana Di Vora, a self-taught artist, uses watercolor, acrylic on canvas, and scrap materials to create works brimming with light and movement. She experiments with figurative and abstract art, using rapid brushstrokes and intense monochromes, highlighting the three-dimensionality and luminosity of unexpected details. Her works, often melancholic and dynamic, convey that even from darkness, the most intense light and vibrant color can emerge, instilling vitality and hope in the viewer.
