About this artwork
In this work, I wanted to depict a suspended, almost evanescent humanity, made up of presences that dissolve into the darkness. The figures, created with a material technique that allows the textures to emerge, are deliberately devoid of distinctive features: they are silhouettes, souls, uncertain identities that blend into one another.
Among them, however, there is a red figure. It is the only element of color, a sign of life, of blood, of individuality.… It represents difference, the courage to be different, or perhaps the wound, the condition of those who feel exposed and alone in the crowd.
The material itself, thick, scratched, and rippled, becomes part of the painting's language. It speaks to the tension between presence and absence, between the mass and the individual. These people, suspended in the dark space, seem to move together but without truly meeting. It's an image of modern community, where humanity risks being lost if it doesn't find a way to keep its flame alive.
