About this artwork
While walking in the woods near home looking for terrestrial orchids, we were surprised to see a roebuck sitting behind a log about 70 metres away. He was surprised too. and hesitated for a few seconds before getting up and running deeper into the woods, barking. The incident burned into my mind and when we got home the artist quickly sketched out his impression of the buck lying down. That became this painting some months later.
