In this dreamlike fusion, I wanted to bring together two icons dear to my heart: François Pompon's Bear and the Place de la Libération. Using my "Sketchy Photo" technique, I worked with a stylus to create this double exposure so that the sculptor's protective silhouette seems to watch over the architecture of the Palace of the Dukes.
This work transcends a simple local tribute, becoming a graphic fantasy where stone and sculpture unite in a single… stroke. True to my trio of Time, Inspiration, and Work, I sculpted each contrast to lend a timeless depth to this symbol of Dijon. For Singulart, this edition on Alu Dibond is limited to 10 numbered copies.
Stéphane Rouillard is a self-taught photographer, passionate about the fusion of digital technology and manual technique, whose artistic education was built on experimentation and observation of urban architecture, particularly in Dijon. He has developed his signature style through digital Neo-Pictorialism with his innovative "Sketchy Photo" technique, a hybrid of photography, drawing, engraving, and graphic arts, oscillating between textured black and white and painterly colors. His works invite sensitive contemplation, revealing the hidden poetry of places and the intimate resonance of light.
