About this artwork
The image "Location" depicts a urinal, distorted through distortion, reflection, and the reduced color palette of white and gray. This transforms the object from its purely functional purpose into an object of contemplation. The sterile, cool color scheme emphasizes the distance from reality, while the reflection engages the viewer and challenges their perception.
The connection to Marcel Duchamp lies in the transformation of an everyday object… into an art object. As with Duchamp, the urinal is removed from its original context and given a new meaning. While Duchamp provokes through contextual displacement, "Location" further amplifies this effect through visual alienation.
