About this artwork
The image appears to depict a cross-section of a four-room house, yet the familiar order of the living space is disrupted. Countless walls, corners, and a multitude of seemingly disordered staircases crisscross the composition, creating a spatial structure that loses all functional logic. Perspective here does not serve as a means of orientation, but rather as an expression of confinement, displacement, and instability.
The Spanish title anchors… this formal disruption in a social reality: the precarious housing situation prevalent in many parts of Spain. The house is thus not interpreted as a sanctuary, but as a fragile structure where living is characterized by insecurity, overcrowding, and a lack of predictability. Between architecture and disorientation, an image of social tension emerges, revealing the private interior space as a political space.
Stefan Görres is a painter, photographer, and digital artist; he uses digital painting based on photographs to artistically explore the mutability of our perception. His technique combines traditional painting with digital innovation, distorting everyday motifs and lighting situations and transforming them into new, surreal realities. His works play with illusion and reality and powerfully convey the emotion of constant change: "Nothing is as it was."
