About this artwork
The work unfolds its effect through the clear order of vertical stripes, which oscillate between organic feel and formal rigor. The dominant green area on the right evokes associations of growth, continuity, and inner peace, while the narrow brownish stripes on the left introduce an earthy, almost sedimentary quality. This juxtaposition creates a tension between expansion and compression, between openness and limitation.
In the tradition of reduced,… serial painting, as found, for example, in the work of Christoph Steinmeyer, the line here is understood not merely as a formal element, but as a vehicle for time and perception. The vertical orientation guides the viewer's gaze into a silent movement—a visual breathing between the color zones. The work invites the viewer to experience difference and repetition not as opposites, but as complementary states.
Stefan Görres is a painter, photographer, and digital artist; he uses digital painting based on photographs to artistically explore the mutability of our perception. His technique combines traditional painting with digital innovation, distorting everyday motifs and lighting situations and transforming them into new, surreal realities. His works play with illusion and reality and powerfully convey the emotion of constant change: "Nothing is as it was."
