About this artwork
Since 2014, driven by my biographical experiences, I have artistically dealt with the subject of swarms. This resulted in and continues to be a search for a graphic and graphic implementation of these dynamic movements on the one hand and my emotions on the other. I am interested in what drives them, how and why swarms form.
My aim is to bring a swarm situation into an abstract, informal form. This is done by compressing and dissolving individually… drawn very fine lines with an ink pen with an extremely fine tip.

« Inner and outer freedom, harmonious coexistence in mutual respect, and aesthetics are my life principles. »
Steffi-Babett Wartenberg is a painter and illustrator from Germany whose works have been exhibited widely across the country. In her Schwarm series, for example, she focuses on the fascinating dynamics and apparent limitlessness of flocks of animals. In the works in the Solitude series, she captures the essence of isolation, spatial confinement and the quiet contemplation of loneliness. Her colorful series Farbklang und Linienspur is about the subtle interactions of lines, colors and shapes. Each work is a testament to her exploration of interpersonal relationships, inner conflicts or her relationship to nature. Wartenberg's distinctive compositions are usually created with ink, graphite, watercolor and acrylic on canvas, cardboard and paper. Welcome to her world of abstract representation, a visual language of reflection.
