About this artwork
This painting explores the Mironian space of form and fantasy—a threshold where the visible and the invisible converge, and ornament becomes ontology. Through vibrant, symmetrical motifs reminiscent of damask traditions, I evoke the fractal nature of our physical reality, using pattern as both language and lens. These shapes are not merely decorative; they are mnemonic devices that echo deeper geometries and challenge the stability of perception.… Smears and drips disrupt symmetry to suggest motion, decay, and rebirth, inviting viewers to question what they see and who decides. I aim to dissolve the boundary between collective and personal worldviews, revealing how cultural patterning and individual vision are inseparable. Ultimately, my work inhabits the space between order and chaos, perception and imagination, where fantasy is not escape but revelation.
Stephen Linsteadt expresses transformative themes on canvas through oil. His approach involves intentional brushstrokes, mindful of color, pattern and surprises in creation. His works act as bridges, balancing between conscious and unconscious realms, reflecting a deeply spiritual, introspective dialogue.
