About this artwork
Steven loves Cirque du Soleil for their gifted costumes and the magic of life they portray. Interesting photographs of places that are not traveled inspire different locations in his paintings. Watching clowns, magicians, singers, and artists perform is equally as exciting as documenting them. Once, he observed a circus performance in Montreal park. That performance and the whole magic evening atmosphere inspired Lamb to create the painting "evening…
violin." He decided to transform the park into a round hill and to includ a dog.

« My perception of the world is always from a comical point of view. I have reached the conclusion for myself, that what matters the most, is the human ability to laugh. »
Steven Lamb is an award-winning artist based in Canada whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in the United States and Brazil. Creating in a distinctive style which he describes as being both whimsical and grotesque, he views his works as a tool for social commentary, not to criticize, but rather, to amuse and entertain. Lamb takes viewers on a journey through the streets of Montreal and Paris, often portraying café scenes, circuses, musicians, and clowns.
