About this artwork
This painting is inspired by Hawaii. As a little girl I already drew tropical flowers and palm trees and dreamed of going to Hawaii one day and still do... With my children I often listened to Taimane, a singer from Hawaii who combined Spanish music with local singing. So beautiful! “Mahalo”, that is the name of this painting. Thank you”, as a way of life. Live in thankfulness for the richness that makes life so precious. The tropical flowers she… ties around her head are beautiful. All inspiration for me! The bouquet is also what they get at a wedding and I made it explode a bit, so to speak,..lol. I wanted to paint a Delft blue vase, but in my own way. Also because I live in the Dutch part of Sint Maarten. This is now full of symbols that used to be found in caves in the rocks, but also that were engraved in jars. The gold (real gold leaf) indicates the pot of gold,…as one thinks at the end or beginning of a rainbow. I can always fantasize about that,..and it's on canvas now.
Suzanne Domenech, inheriting artistic zeal from her fresco-painting father, explores acrylics and mixed media with a flair for the imaginative. Her technique—an alchemy of spontaneity and emotional symbology, veils narratives within her canvases. Her art pulsates with a raw, unfettered expression of both personal and commissioned emotional landscapes.
