A figure attempts to dive toward another element. It seeks to cross the surface, to reach somewhere else. But the matter stretches, deforms, resists. It doesn't let it pass.
The thermoformed plastic, consolidated by the resin, becomes a membrane that accommodates the pressure of the body without giving way. Every movement translates into tension, every effort into further deformation of the surface.
But it's not just the impulse toward the beyond.… Introflection evokes the unknown, the loss of form, the return to what precedes all individuality.
The figure is suspended between the desire to cross and the impossibility of escaping the totality of which it is itself a manifestation.
The Diver is the conflict between will and limit, between the desire for another condition and the resistance of matter.
Elsewhere exists as a desire, not as a possibility.
