About this artwork
It started in the beginning of 2024, all of a sudden I had a craving for painting skulls. The war between Russia and Ukraine, Israël and Hamas, Global warming and animals, insects and plants going extinct, major pollution on land and sea gave me an awkward feeling about painting comfortable pictures. It is not the right time for me to paint pleasant pictures.
And now 2025, nothing much has changed certainly not for the better.
In this piece, I explored… the fragile boundary between existence and void, using ethereal, almost ghostly figures to evoke a sense of metaphysical mystery. The elongated, distorted forms reflect inner vulnerability and transformation. Through oil and pastel, I aimed to create a haunting atmosphere that stirs introspection. This artwork brings an enigmatic, contemplative energy to any space, inviting viewers to ponder the unseen depths of being.
