About this artwork
Although there is still a war on and major pollution this one is rather friendly. I must have in in a positive mood (-;
I see him, and I do believe it is a him, as a gentle and friendly guy. There is not much left of him, just a skull an arm with hand and a little bit of a body and a leg. His appearance is not menacing to me. He brings a smile to my face.
Now available with frame.
Theo Overgaauw, a Dutch painter and sculptor, works primarily with pastels and oil paint, drawing on a rich education from the Vrij Academie and a masterclass with Jörg Immendorff. He embraces expressive, loose techniques layered without preliminary sketches, often shifting styles and evoking a slightly macabre, surreal edge. His recent works confront the anxieties of war, ecological collapse, and mortality, using distorted figures and skulls to channel a profound sense of urgency, loss, and existential disquiet.
