About this artwork

Thomas Dellert is known for his dark sense of humour. His oeuvre is filled with irreverence, satire and irony. The artist critiques contemporary values and at times horrifies the viewers.From fake news, and war scenarios to Holocaust and assassinations. However, his bold practice has a poetic sense of vulnerability and a ubiquitous presence of the idea of mortality. Exposing the contradictions and paradoxes of the contemporary world, he manages… not just to shock us or get us upset but entertain us in an intellectual way with humanistic overtones. All with images we thought we knew from our collective memory. But well Look again. History is manipulated just like Dellerts images.

Thomas Dellert is an internationally renowned Swedish painter and photographer who has taken part in numerous solo exhibitions throughout the United States and several European nations. His works are featured in the permanent collections of the Holocaust Memorial Museum (Washington DC), Heinz, Mercedes Benz, Absolute Vodka and the Swedish Royal Family, to name a few. Combining satirical and historical elements, Dellert mixes painting, collage and graphic art to convey both the deep darkness and shining hope of humanity.
