THE SECRET LIFE OF PLANTS AND FLOWERS
In a world in decay and transformation and a nature that is dying around us I have focused on the secret life of plants and flowers. These living creatures that now as well as us are in danger of extinction are all creations of our God, carrying light and life in the darkness that surrounds us. I have therefore given them all names of Gods. And they do have a secret life. They do hear and feel. They grow when we… talk to them and play music to them. They cry and bleed when we cut them and burn them.Just like humans. This series of new works are inspired by artists before me, like Vincent Van Gogh, Edward Weston, Tina Modotti, Claude Monet, Robert Mapplethorpe and Andy Warhol who all made art of their love for flowers. Sometimes with an understanding of the gift of God, sometimes simply shallow, like Warhol’s famous Flower Prints taken directly out of an average garden catalogue.
