About this artwork
Deep Sea Relic is my attempt to capture the mysterious stillness and power of the ocean depths on canvas. The intense blue hue envelops like cold water, while iridescent structures evoke bioluminescent beings glowing in eternal darkness. I have engraved traces with fire—relics of an unknown depth, oscillating between beauty and menace. This work belongs to my Burning Pictures series, in which I combine heat, time, and pigment in an artistic process…
that makes the unfathomable visible. For me, Deep Sea Relic is a meditation on the invisible and the hidden—an invitation to hear the silence beneath the surface.

Born in Austria, I discovered my passion for the art of engraving and steel engraving early on, a passion later expanded through the transformative power of fire in my Burningpictures. Using mixed media on linen, wood, and ceramics, I employ fire as a central design element. In my Burningpictures, I reveal the hidden secrets of nature and invite the viewer to experience the ever-changing interplay of light, color, and texture. The fire creates a magical visibility of the invisible—a powerful and liberating transformation.
