About this artwork
This oil painting shows the river landscape of a nature reserve in my neighborhood, where I regularly like to hike and enjoy nature.
At the centre of the painting is the calm water, its still surface reflecting the blue sky almost flawlessly.
On the left half of the picture, bare trees stand in backlight, their long shadows falling in dramatic black across the golden ground, while the right side is dominated by autumnal trees in bright yellow and… orange tones.
This composition creates a fascinating balance between cold and warmth, between the barren winter elements and the vibrant colors of autumn.
The sky, clear and deep blue, opens up the space and allows the viewer to immerse themselves in the depth of the scene. The powerful contrasts and the subtle reflection of the water give the picture a special sense of calm and tension at the same time.
