About this artwork
Becka has discovered that there is a world full of opportunities and experiences to live. Little by little he comes out of his imaginary egg and with a lot of appetite to make up for lost time.
The metaphor of Becka, discovering a world full of opportunities while emerging from her “imaginary egg,” is directly connected to the sense of empowerment in my works. Her desire to make up for lost time and freely explore reflects the inner strength and… courage I capture in my figures with exaggerated proportions and challenging poses. Like Becka, my characters symbolize the determination to break barriers and embrace new experiences, conveying a message of personal growth and the conquest of our own limits.
Tom Roy (Toni Ramírez, Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona, 1976) is a painter of contemporary, direct and physical figurative language. She trained in business, marketing, market research, and art—an unusual combination that permeates her work. After studying at the Escola d'Art i Disseny in Tarragona, she specialized in contemporary techniques. Between 2011 and 2014, cancer led him to rethink his life and leave the commercial management of a multinational to dedicate himself completely to painting, until today. His work features monumental figures, oversized hands and feet, tense bodies, and contorted poses. He uses intense colors, decisive brushstrokes, and unconventional perspectives, currently favoring the use of almost dry oil paint. In 2025, he was selected as an Artist in Residence at World Art Dubai. He also participates in ART3F and FIABCN. His works convey energy, determination, and resilience, far removed from any naive optimism.
