As in most of my work, this series addresses the notion of harmony.
Through the interweaving of characters and landscapes, drawn instinctively, I try to capture moments where life expresses itself and fills us with joy, amazes us but also worries and frightens us.
In my compositions, I seek vibration and visual balance through intertwining shapes and colors. Although chaotic at first glance, it is balance and harmony that interest me. Each painting… is a story, in which my characters circulate, dance, or sometimes escape. They are in harmony within these surfaces, just as we seek stability in our lives, with the world around us. My work lies between figuration and abstraction.
Tommy Knuts is an artist based in Lille, in the Hauts-de-France region. A jack-of-all-trades by nature, his work is multidisciplinary. His main mediums of expression include canvases, murals, sculptures, and ceramics.
Through impulsive and automatic research, his hodgepodge of characters and landscapes emerge as an expression of his deepest reflections. Connecting things and beings in light of the bonds that unite them. Freezing the emotions that come alive through encounters, capturing those moments when life expresses itself and astonishes us. Between wonder and joie de vivre, but also fears and concerns, Tommy's work is an instinctive need to put his moods and emotions on paper.
He seeks a vibration and a visual balance through his tangles of forms, which deliberately complicate the reading. Chaotic, his works come to question our human relationships and our freedoms.
