About this artwork
The artist whose pop and rock influences of the 70s are assumed speaks with this series of "anonymous" celebrities that she does not name to give free rein to everyone's imagination. She makes celebrities black or paints famous blacks. It shakes up codes and genres and defends cultural diversity.

« "I am not inventing anything, everything is there, you just have to look around. I come from a thousand currents, descend from a thousand ancestors, and dream of being able to unite them in a single work." »
Vanessa Genachte is a Belgian painter who has exhibited in both solo and group events nationally. In her works, she speaks of cultural mixes and identity. Genachte believes that there is one human tribe, all in search of beauty and universality. Breaking codes and genres, she marries, sometimes unlikely, culturally strong styles and narratives. She paints using acrylics but also uses mixed techniques and materials such as pastels, acrylic pens, gold leaf, as well as diverse ornamentation.
