While taking my daily stroll, I frequently find myself by the nearby lakes. During this season, the area comes alive with a vibrant display of wildflowers. The symphony of insect sounds, coupled with the delicate scent of both water and wildflowers, acted as a catalyst for the creation of this artwork. Vania Bouwmeester Pentcheva is an established Bulgarian artist based in the Netherlands who has exhibited her work nationally, as well as in South Africa. Moved and inspired by nature, including its presence in urban landscapes, she explores her emotions, memories and philosophical thoughts through the composition of abstract paintings full of dynamic shapes and colours. Textures and colours spontaneously arrive on the canvas, though structured layering is carefully thought out.
