About this artwork
Soffermati (2025) is a unique drawing on 100% linen canvas, executed in graphite, charcoal, pierre noire, and colored pencil.
Shortlisted for the Derwent Art Prize 2026 and exhibited in London, it was selected by a jury of international art experts as one of 71 works from 5,000 submissions.
Drawing on the visual language of fashion photography, the work captures a suspended, cinematic moment, leaving space for open interpretation. The textured… linen surface subtly softens the precision of the line, creating a delicate, time worn atmosphere reminiscent of a fading image.
As a unique work on canvas, rare within the artist’s practice and supported by a highly selective international context, it represents a distinctive and considered addition for collectors following the artist’s evolving trajectory.
The artwork is sold framed (52 × 52 × 3 cm) with passepartout from the London exhibition, intended primarily to protect the work. It does not include a hanging system.
Veronica Colanero worked as a fashion designer in Italy and London, an experience that strongly shaped her artistic vision. Today, she is a full-time artist based near Paris, working primarily with graphite, charcoal, and Pierre Noire. Her hyperrealist drawings isolate figures, objects, or fragments, transforming them into poetic studies of beauty, identity, and memory. Whether through a view, a gesture, or an everyday object, her works explore the fine line between surface and depth, appearance and emotion. Blending precision with sensitivity, Veronica creates pieces that feel both intimate and timeless, inviting viewers into a quiet space of reflection and resonance. This selection represents a curated part of her practice. Alongside these originals, Veronica develops other series, limited editions, and fine art prints, continuing her exploration of elegance, memory, and identity — extending her creative universe, with additional pieces visible on her website veronicacolanero.com.
