About this artwork
Counting my blessings is a painting on canvas that was part of a show titled Forms and forces; a series of recent paintings bound together by colourful forms, pattern and space to explore abstract compositions.
My work is closely linked to my everyday life experiences that circumnavigate me at varying speeds and force. An intensity that is reflected in the selected colour, forms and the dynamism of the work. My emotional connection with the daily… happenings increases or slows the acceleration of things happening around me which heightens my emotional charge and is reflected in the vibrancy of my paintings. Counting My Blessings is an acknowledgement of gratitude for all the good things in my life. I feel incredibly thankful for every day of my life.
Wendy Grace holds an Honours degree in Painting from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. An accomplished Australian artist renowned for her vibrant abstract compositions, command of colour and instinctive grasp of spatial relationships. Her artworks are deeply influenced by nature and urban dynamics, as she seeks to push the boundaries of her work to find new ways to convey meaning and emotion. She says of Abstract painting that, “she is able to use everyday experiences and encounters with people and the environment in her work, to create a space to explore pathways to the imaginary,” offering the viewer a dynamic interplay of colour and pattern.
